Lily's Future Husband??

My friend Brittany and I were pregnant at the same time:

She knew she was having a boy, Axel Joseph, and I knew I was having a girl. So of course- we immediately joked that our babies would get married one day. They were born only three days apart, and yesterday, we all went to lunch together. Here are Axel and Lily on their first date:

Lily woke up first, looked in Axel's direction, and immediately smiled.  Too cute!

Lily Looks Like...

Here are side-by-side pics of Lily and me, and then Lily and Strother. Most people say they can see a little bit of me in her, but it is definitely clear that she is Strother's child!!!  Good thing I think he's cute. ;)

Lily's First Time at Church

Today, Lily went to our church, Harbor Community Church, for the first time. Harbor has an awesome kids environment called the Itty Bitty Bayou where some really great volunteers teach little ones that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever!  Lily did great in the Bayou today!  Everyone was so excited to see her, and the ladies in her classroom loved loving on her!  It was really nice for Stro and I to go to church together today; it has been almost two months since that happened!

Thankful for the Bayou!

We made it to Harbor's Instagram account!

Lily is Smiling!

Strother was able to capture two big smiles from Lily!

And of course, Mom had to use her Beautiful Mess app to caption it!

Lily is One Month Old!

This past Wednesday, Lily turned one month old!  The next day, we went to the doctor and she checked out perfectly!  She weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces now, so about a full pound above birth weight.  This is the 13th percentile, so the doctor said she is a petite girl.  :)

Here are a few pictures from this past week, and a few things that Lily has been loving for the past month!

 Lily loves:
**being outside
**reading books with Mommy
**sleeping on Daddy's chest
**taking walks in her stroller with Max
**laying on her playmat

Anytime she's fussy, going outside is almost an instant cure!  Sometimes the sun is bright though, and she can't open her eyes.  :)

Too sleepy to wake up!

And finally, this is how she spent her one month birthday - all day...

Ten Things I've Learned as the Mom of a Newborn

1.  Timing is everything.  When I think baby is asleep, rock ten more minutes before putting her down.  When I think she's done pooping, wait five more minutes before changing her diaper.

2.  It is much easier to dress a newborn when she's asleep.

3.  Middle of the night feedings make the best prayer time.

4.  "Sleep when the baby sleeps" is much easier said than done.  Sometimes I'm wide awake when she's sleeping and nodding off when she's awake.

5.  Babies poop.  A lot.

6.  It will take at least an hour longer just to get ready to do anything than it used to.  Then to actually do whatever you were getting ready for?  Nope, too tired.

7.  Picking up my phone with my toes isn't as hard as I thought it'd be.

8.  Everyone knows about pregnancy hormones and emotions.  But no one talks about post-pregnancy hormones and emotions.  What a roller coaster.  And yet - this is when you get sent home with this tiny person to take care of.  Makes sense, right?

9.  If I see an opportunity to eat/sleep/shower, choose the most important and do it then.  There may not be another chance all day long.

10.  Once I swaddle the baby good and tight, she'll poop and I'll have to undo and redo it all.  This will especially happen in the middle of the night.
